Privacy policy
What we keep, and why.
Short version: what you send us goes to the You Betula inbox so we can reply. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Who we are
You Betula Environmental Inc. is a beaver coexistence and wetland science firm based in Lethbridge, Alberta, working across Canada. This policy covers youbetula.com and the ways you contact us through it. We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA.
What we collect
Only what you give us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number (optional), province or territory, a municipality or land location, what the message is about, the message itself, and any photos you choose to attach. Photos travel with the message to the same inbox and nowhere else. If you email or call us instead, we keep that correspondence the way anyone would.
The web server keeps standard access logs (the pages requested, the time, and the IP address of the request) for security and troubleshooting. The form handler records the IP address a message came from, to help us tell real inquiries from spam.
What we do with it
We use your details to reply, to book a consult or site visit, to write a quote or a plan, and to deliver the work you ask for. If you ask about a workshop, a product or a research project, the same applies. We do not use your details for advertising, and we don't add you to a mailing list.
Photos and video
The people in the photos on this site are our crew, our clients and our partners, shown with their permission. Field photos name places only where the landowner is fine with it. If you're in a photo and would rather not be, email us and we'll take it down.
How long we keep it
Inquiries that don't turn into work are deleted within two years. Records for work we've done are kept as long as our professional and tax obligations require, then deleted. Server logs roll over on the hosting provider's schedule, typically within a few weeks.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can withdraw consent to being contacted at any time. Email damquestions@youbetula.com and we'll sort it out, normally within thirty days. If you're not satisfied with how we handled it, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
