The Starland County Agricultural Service Board hired You Betula Environmental to assist with the design and construction of a riparian living fence at our Michichi Creek Boardwalk Beaver Co-Existence project site. Kirby was professional, organized and incredibly easy to communicate with on the planning and implementation of the project. Kirby also helped turn what would have been a labour extensive project into a fun learning experience. He had the idea to invite neighbouring municipalities as well as the public to participate in building the living fence, which created a great learning environment and opportunity for everyone involved. Owned and operated by wetland ecologist Kirby England, M.Sc., (P.Biol.) we provide environmental consulting, range and riparian health assessments, and offer beaver co-existence installations to private landowners, land managers, and municipalities. With a specialization in riparian and wetland ecology we are able to provide science-based advice, guidance through the regulatory process, and installation of cost-effective ecological solutions to common riparian and wetland issues including beaver flooding and vegetation disturbance, recovery of ecosystem function, and technical reviews of riparian and wetland sites. Further, we provide small scale bio-engineering services and lead habitat management projects. Finally, we offer wetland ecology and plant identification related training and tourism opportunities to interested clients in partnership with SALMTEC and others.
